Book Review: The Isle of a Thousand Worlds
Welcome to the first blog post of the new 2022 year! I am happy to kick it off with the second book in Dan Fitzgerald's Weirdwater Confluence duology that began with Living Waters, which I reviewed at the beginning of December. I've also had the chance to read and review his debut trilogy, and though only The Archives (book2) and The Place Below (book 3) have posts on my blog, you can find these and my review for the first book, Hollow Road, on Goodreads and Amazon.
This novel will be available January 15th and is up for pre-order on Amazon. More than the first book in the duology, this is an adult read based on the level of steam inside these pages. With that in mind, a little about the book, then on to my review!
An aging alchemist seeks the key to the Universal Tincture said to unlock the Thousand Worlds of the Mind, but she never expected to solve the riddle of ther hermetic heart.
A meditation acolyte travels the mystical social media known as the Caravan and finds that the Thousand Worlds lie just below the surface, if she can only learn to see the space between the stars.
This steamy romantic fantasy explores the confluence of the physical and the metaphysical though the commingling of bodies and minds.
The Isle of a Thousand Worlds follows alchemist Patia and mindful Gilea as they explore different sides of the same Universal coin. Gilea wants to train her mind to be part of the Caravan, a series of interconnected stations that can be reached by the mind while leaving the body behind. Patia wants to solve the ancient mystery of the Universal Tincture, and if she can discover it, anyone would be able to join the power of this connection. Truly, though, this novel is about how love itself is Universal. How a love that comes from the connection of minds can be as powerful as one that connects bodies. How a lifetime of believing love is a lie can be upended once you meet a person who truly understands and supports you. That is where the beauty of Dan's writing comes into play - showing us that love is love, no matter the form it chooses to manifest.
